Many people are looking at the Economic Stimulus Check as a way to pay off debt or increase their savings. If you plan on paying off debt, saving, buying gas, or buying other foreign goods: You are defeating the purpose of this check. The government has made a stupid decision to borrow more money and give it out to the American people. What people want to spend the money on will not help the economy. The purpose of these checks is to help out American businesses and increase productivity in the U.S. economy. So the government has made a silly decision to give out money. How can we make the best of it?
Go out and buy American goods or hire somebody to do some work for you. Go buy a new American car or a house. I know the check isn't going to pay for everything, but this is what it was designed to do. By buying more American goods and putting Americans to work, you will help stimulate the economy. Personally, I am having rough times right now. So if I were to get a check I'd pay off some bills. But if you are able to go out and buy something that is made in America, go do it. But I know there are a lot of people like me who are just having trouble with money and want to get the debt off their back. If that's what you've got to do, then that is what you've got to do. My point is, the check was made to promote the idea of spending. Its purpose is to make people unafraid of spending. After all, doesn't money make the world go 'round?
